Night Work and Travel Delays Anticipated on Monday, March 6, 2023

The Contractor is scheduled to pour bridge pier concrete footing on or about Monday, March 6, 2023, weather permitting.

  • The Contractor will begin work at 4 a.m. and continue until 11 p.m.
  • Concrete trucks will be entering and exiting the Sea Bright construction area on Route 36/Ocean Avenue frequently between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. The trucks may be queued in the northbound shoulder of Route 36. Sea Bright Police will assist with traffic control.
  • If necessary, such as an emergency, the Contractor may close the southeast shoulder on the bridge (CR 520).

Please allow extra travel time on Monday, March 6 between 4 a.m. and 11 p.m.

Shrewsbury River Temporary Channel Width Reduction in Effect

Due to bridge replacement construction activity in the Shrewsbury River, the navigational channel width is reduced from 75′ to 65′. Signs are posted for mariners. Please click here to see the Public Notice.

Update on Shrewsbury River Temporary Channel Width Reduction

The temporary channel width reduction previously noted for late summer is now anticipated in the Fall of 2022.

Notice had been given in May that bridge replacement construction activity in the Shrewsbury River will require the existing navigational channel width be reduced from 75′ to 65′ for an estimated 12 months.

  • The 65’ navigational channel will continue to be open to mariners.
  • The bridge operator will instruct vessels, as is currently done, during this period when the channel is reduced by 10’ in width.
  • The existing bridge will continue to be open to vehicles and pedestrians.

Construction Activity Near West Park

This is a courtesy note to inform the communities of Rumson and Sea Bright that the bridge contractor might close the eastbound shoulder of Rumson Road in the area of West Park during the day on May 5, 2022 for construction activity. Please see the Travel Advisory page.

Utility Related Work Continues

This is a courtesy note to inform the communities of Rumson and Sea Bright that the JCP&L utility work along Rumson Road in the area of West Park will continue through the week of April 11, 2022.

The work along Ocean Avenue (Route 36) was completed today, April 8.
