Travel Advisory

May 9, 2025

Bridge replacement activity is planned for 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every day from Saturday 5/10 through Sunday 5/18, weather permitting. Scheduled construction activities are listed below the travel advisory information.

Waterway Information

The USCG has approved the following schedule for bridge openings and channel width restrictions:

NO BRIDGE OPENINGS FROM 5/9/2025 to 5/15/25

5/9/25 to 5/12/25 at 6 a.m.

  • Horizontal clearance of 37.5 feet on the western half of the channel is scheduled to be open for marine travel
  • Vertical clearance restriction is scheduled to be 15 feet at Mean High Water (MHW) / 18.5 feet at Mean Low Water (MLW)

5/12/25 at 6 a.m. to 5/15/25

  • Horizontal clearance of 75 feet (full channel) is scheduled to be open for marine travel
  • Vertical clearance restriction is scheduled to be 15 feet at MHW / 18.5 feet at MLW

HALF CHANNEL BRIDGE OPENINGS FROM 5/15/25 to 5/22/25

  • Horizontal clearance of 37.5 feet is scheduled to be open for marine travel – one span, either east or west, will be in the down position on an as-needed basis
  • No vertical restriction

The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has jurisdiction over the navigational channel. USCG has granted permission for the partial closures of the channel and for the temporary deviation from normal drawbridge operations. Monmouth County must comply with the dates approved by the USCG.

Dates and times are subject to change based on weather conditions and production factors.

Roadway and Sidewalk Information

  • Please be aware of traffic pattern changes and possible travel delays in Sea Bright at the intersection of Route 36 (Ocean Ave) and Rumson Road (CR 520).
  • All roadway and sidewalk travelers should be aware of construction and delivery vehicles entering and exiting the work areas on both sides of Rumson Road in Rumson and on the southbound side of Route 36 in Sea Bright.
  • Temporary delays are possible on any Contractor workday due to movement of construction vehicles and equipment.
  • The south side (eastbound) sidewalk of the bridge is closed.
