Utility Related Work Continues

This is a courtesy note to inform the communities of Rumson and Sea Bright that the JCP&L utility work along Rumson Road in the area of West Park will continue through the week of April 11, 2022.

The work along Ocean Avenue (Route 36) was completed today, April 8.

Construction Field Activity Update

The following field activity is underway for bridge replacement construction in both Rumson and Sea Bright. These activities will continue in the coming weeks:

  • Implement vibration monitoring surveys (property owners within 300’ to receive letters)
  • Install vibration monitoring devices
  • Implement tree protection and removal plan
  • Install construction signage & variable message signs
  • Movement and set-up of construction equipment and materials
  • Install open wire fencing around project area work sites
  • Install wooden stockade fencing near West Park playground

A separate Travel Advisory page will be added to the main menu bar to inform the public of vehicle, pedestrian, bicycle, or marine travel changes.

Construction Phase Public Information Center (PIC) Meeting was held on 10/27/21

Bridge Replacement Public Information Center 10/27/21 4-6pm

Monmouth County will be hosting an in-person Public Information Center (PIC) meeting.

Date: Wednesday, October 27, 2021
Time: 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  (open house with a brief presentation at 4:30 p.m.)
Place: Holy Cross Academy Gym/Auditorium, 40 Rumson Road, Rumson, NJ

The purpose of the meeting is to provide an open house opportunity to introduce the Construction Phase Project Team, view information on construction staging and traffic management, and present the anticipated schedule.  The public is invited to comment and ask questions regarding the project.

All attendees aged 2 and over are required to wear protective masks throughout the meeting, in accordance with current CDC guidelines for health and safety concerning COVID-19.

A video of the presentation portion of the public meeting will post to the project website with the presentation slides and display boards after the meeting.

Bridge Replacement Construction Contract Awarded

At the May 27, 2021 Commissioner Meeting, Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners awarded a construction contract for the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge (S-32), on County Route 520 (Rumson Road) over the Shrewsbury River in the Boroughs of Rumson and Sea Bright, contingent on NJDOT concurrence.

Construction is anticipated to commence later this year with 3 years construction duration achieving substantial completion by end of 2024. A public information center meeting will be scheduled at start of construction activity with a meeting notice announcement and mailing once the date has been determined, anticipated late summer 2021.
